The reason we chose each clip for our inspirational montage task was
that they all contained a certain element that we found was effective
and could possibly be used in our own music video.
Clip 1 - Bryan Adams, Everything I Do.
This was chosen as we liked the narrative featured in the video, as it was relevant, effective and portrayed the songs meaning.
Clip 2 - Passenger, Let Her Go.
This
was chosen as we liked the backstage footage along with the videoed
performance. We felt that as a viewer the use of these techniques made
the video more informal and personal as passenger connect to his
audience. We also liked the way in which the video used backstage
footage to give a deeper meaning to the song which has more of an effect
on the viewer.
Clip 3 - Daft Punk, Da Funk.
This video
was chosen as it had a unique USP and stood out through the use of
effective mise-en-scene and cinematography. We also liked the way in
which the music faded out at key points in the video making the
narrative more prominent
Clip 4 - Passenger, Wrong Direction.
This
video was chosen due to the fact that Passenger effectively
incorporates animation into his video. This works well as it fits
naturally without looking out of place. We also liked the fact that the
director used continuous shots throughout with minimal cuts to different
shots/ angles.
Clip 5 - One Direction, One Way Or Another
This
video was chosen due to the fact that they used handheld cameras and
filmed themselves and each other. Along with this we liked the way in
which the shots kept changing; cutting to the beat was effective.
